For its first time, the distillery from Kentucky releases a Bourbon that is not entirely influenced by Jimmy and Eddie Russell
Wild Turkey is a whiskey brand with a considerable degree of popularity. However, the Lawrenceburg-based distillery in Kentucky has seen a kind of "reintroduction" in recent years, with Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey – who was named Best Actor in 2014 for his role in the film Dallas Buyers Club – joining as Creative Director in 2016 and becoming increasingly integrated into the company.
The background to such an action, when a famous person lends a brand his name, is certainly also to reach new consumers, and what could be more obvious than to start with a special bottling right away? So Matthew McConaughey and Wild Turkeys Master Distiller, Eddie Russell, are proud to present a new small-batch Bourbon: Wild Turkey Longbranch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, that's the full name.
The special thing about this eight-year-old Bourbon is that it has been refined with Texas Mesquite, an aromatic, extremely hard type of wood, and oak charcoals, which gives the whiskey a deeper flavour and complexity. Bottled at 86 proof (43% abv), the aroma reveals a balanced blend of vanilla and spices, while notes of caramel, pear and citrus round off the taste. The finish is slightly peppery with toasted oak and subtle smoke.
