The president of Michter's has played a significant role in the success of bourbon

To be inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame is probably the greatest honour one can receive in the bourbon scene. As a sign of his service to bourbon, this year it will be awarded to Joseph J. Magliocco, President of Michter's, on 13 September.

Magliocco already worked as a bartender while absolving religious studies at Yale and remained true to his love of bourbon and other spirits afterwards: first he worked in sales, then he led the development of Chatham Imports. After Chatham acquired the traditional Michter's brand in the 1990s, he rebuilt it successfully and played an important role in the revival of American whiskey.

"There is no one who believes more in the potential of the Kentucky bourbon category," said Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee. "I know I speak for our entire team when I say we are grateful for Joe's unwavering support, which has enabled us to make decisions that prioritize making the highest quality whiskey every step of the way."

Michter's are now headquartered in Louisville and distributes their whiskey to every state in the US and 60 export markets. Two distilleries (Michter's Shively Distillery and the Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery), a farm and an operations hub in Springfield, Kentucky, are part of the company. Andrea Wilson, Michter's Master of Maturation and Chief Operating Officer, already belongs to the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.

"Kentucky bourbon has thrived and reached its current level of success because of all the great people working in all the positions in our industry. I am humbled and deeply honored to be included among this year's extraordinary inductees into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame," Magliocco said.
