Two releases of the Manse Brae Series now with age statement

Glenrothes already presented the series called Manse Brae in September 2013: those three editions Minister’s Reserve, Elders‘ Reserve and Manse Reserve were released special for travel retail. The age of the whiskies was communicated, but not printed on the labels. But meanwhile Glenrothes presented new bottlings of the Minister’s Reserve and the Elders’ Reserve officially labeled to be 21 and 18 years old.

Glenrothes Minister’s Reserve named to honor church-related history

The famous Rothes House, home of Glenrothes Whisky, is situated on a rise at one end of the Manse Brae road in Rothes. In former times the building was known as” The Manse” or “Minister’s House”. From here the priest that lived here had a perfect view down on his parish and here the elders of the community met. And the history of Glenrothes is connected with the church in another manner: the elders of the Prebyterian community of Archietown once enabled the construction of the distillery with a loan of £600 (today worth about £50.000).

Strong influence of Spanish oak

Glenrothes Elders‘ Reserve and Glenrothes Minister’s Reserve were matured in casks of American and Spanish oak and the Sherry had a remarkable influence on the whisky: vanilla, mango, apples, oranges, nutmeg, dried fruits and oak make up the mouthfilling and complex character of these Glenrothes Single Malt whiskies that were bottled with 43% ABV.
