The three years old Inaugural Release consists of 5.000 bottles

The first single malt of the Glasgow Distillery Company was announced already several months ago. We reported about it in March here in our news. May 29th 2018 finally was THE day: The first 5.000 bottles of 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky entered the market. Everybody could announce its interest to buy a bottle and enlist. Applications came from Europe but also from international markets like Hong Kong, Australia and North America. Because of the great demand Glasgow Distillery Company limited the dispensing quantity to only one bottle per person.

Two weeks now the campaign has ended and a “sold out” appeared on the company’s homepage: All 5.000 bottles of 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky have found a new owner. The price of £100 obviously didn’t reduced the interest in those half liter bottles. With a high degree of probability many of those bottles won’t be opened: Such inaugural releases of new distilleries are very attractive for collectors because they are very promising concerning investment earnings. For those who are not only interested in prices but also in the whisky itself we got some official tasting notes:

  • To the eye: A vibrant golden glow.
  • To the mouth: Refreshing and warming all at once.
  • To the nose: Pears and rhubarb, with hot custard and a sprinkling of pepper.
  • To the end: A lingering peppery spice, yet sweet finish.
