£7.100 for Eden Mill Single Malt Whisky Bottle No 1

Only recently the young Scottish distillery Eden Mill can offer whisky. We reported here in our news about the experimental series Hip Flasks that was released and sold in the distillery’s online shop.

For its official first bottling Eden Mill chose a different strategy: Many of these 300 bottles were given to long-standing employees, further 100 can be bought for a price of £500 per bottle. If you are interested you are asked to email casks@edenmill.com. But the bottles no. 1 to 10 were auctioned recently and Eden Mill could set a record.

Bottle no.1 of the Eden Mill Whisky achieved a record sale of £7.100 at the auction of Whisky Auctioneer. This topped the record price a first bottle achieved so far which was £4.150 for a bottle of the Inaugural Single Cask of Strathearn in December 2016.

Paul Miller, co-founder of Eden Mill, said: "The whisky is a marriage of spirit matured in American and French virgin oak quarter casks and an ex-Pedro Ximénez Sherry hogshead since 2014, and we’re hugely proud of it. The liquid has been captured in bespoke bottles designed in Italy and blown in Croatia, and oak boxes handcrafted and engraved in Scotland with each bottle and box individually numbered."
