Buffalo Trace releases Antique Collection 2018
The Buffalo Trace Distillery again has released five limited edition whiskeys as part of their annual Antique Collection
Autumn is just around the corner and it's only a matter of time before the American tradition comes to the fore and the family-owned company based in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky announces the whiskeys of its annual Antique Collection. Unfortunately, these selected and highly sought-after bottlings hardly ever reach specialist retail shops on the European continent, but with a little luck you might be able to get a bottle on the spot.
Bourbon and Rye Whiskeys
The collection again consists of five limited whiskeys of different ages, recipes and proofs. These are: George T. Stagg Bourbon, William Larue Weller Bourbon, Eagle Rare 17 year old Bourbon, Sazerac 18 year old Rye and Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye. Compared to last year, the alcohol content of Eagle Rare 17 year old increased significantly from 90 proof (45% abv) to now 101 proof (50.5% abv). This was the brand's original drinking strength when it was launched in 1974 and will now be a permanent change to the proof for the upcoming Eagle Rare bottlings in the Antique Collection.
Cult status
The Antique Collection by Buffalo Trace was introduced more than a decade ago and has since achieved cult status among whiskey connoisseurs. Since 2000, these whiskeys have received numerous awards from renowned specialist magazines and experts. The five whiskeys of the Antique Collection 2018 will be available in limited quantities from the end of September or beginning of October.
