Nosing:
Rye spice, Initially has quite an acetone note which drops off over time. Ginger cake, cloves. Some vanilla, but most everything else is overpowered by the spiciness.
Taste:
Sweet, and medium to light intensity arrival. Spiciness builds over time. Cloves, pepper, caramel/honey sweetness. The wood oils bring it close to bitter, but is balanced by the sweetness well.
Finish:
Medium length , lots of spiciness, particularly clove oil. Lots of wood, a little sappy and drying over time. Some tannins showing up.
Comment:
Very decent bourbon this. The extra maturation really adds some depth, although I'm not a massive fan of the acetone note on the nose, and the sappy wood note on the finish. Still, good performance, though might be a little pricey for what it is.
82/100
