Finish:
Comment: Closest to Edition 3 from The Macallan's previous offerings in this range, if a comparison must be made. But this whisky is distinctive. It also leans a bit toward the Triple Cask series, given the more rounded - but still clearly identifiable - scents presented.
The oak that shows up at the back end of the finish is quite enjoyable. Again, distinctive. It is a little charred, yet manages not to become exceptionally bitter. There is not a great deal more in the finish, but the unique oak and otherwise earthy tones are enough to maintain this whisky's quality through to the end.
